Connecting Kids to CHRISTmas

Christmas

Welcome to my first Christmas Series:  Connecting Kids to CHRISTmas!

I want a pure heart for me and my kids this Christmas, don’t you?

What can I do to connect my kids to Christ right now?

I asked my friends how they purposefully and practically keep their hearts focused on Jesus Christ at Christmas, and now I get to share our ideas with you!

This week, I will introduce you to my sweet friends. They generously invite us into their lives to show how a Christmas memory or tradition connects them to Christ and connects their kids to Christ as well.

Join us this week as we prepare our hearts for Christmas with a Christmas TIP (Truth, Insight, or Perspective) each day.

Day 1 – Why A Christmas Series?

There are so many gifts I want to give my children this Christmas season, but most of all I want them to know God with an undivided heart.

Not a perfect heart, but a pure heart.

A heart that feels loved on by toys, candy, and parties, but is not confused concerning the reason why and who we are celebrating.

An undivided heart is not something we can get on our own. We can’t gift our children with undivided hearts either.

Only God can.

Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I my fear your name.

Psalm 86:11

I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them.

Jeremiah 32:39

I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 11:19

Pure, unselfish hearts.

Yes, I want this for me and my children! Don’t you?

It is time to get intentionally intimate with our Savior and the month leading to the celebration of His birth sounds like a good start to me.

But how?

Great question!

How can I create a home where my kids want to know Christ more?

How can I work towards singleness of heart and action in my own life and give my kids a chance to focus on the One who really matters?

I decided to ask my friends how they purposefully and practically keep their hearts focused on Jesus Christ at Christmas.

This week, I will introduce you to my sweet friends. They generously invite us into their lives to show how a Christmas memory or tradition connects them to Christ and connects their kids to Christ as well.

Maybe you will connect with a craft, an idea, or a tradition that excites you and motivates you to seek God more passionately.

Maybe seeing others seek God gets your mind turning and heart beating again.

Maybe you attempt something new and it fails, but you are happy to add the experience to your funny memory list.

I am not sure what God has for you, but I know we serve a generous and creative God who is waiting for us to turn our eyes and hearts to Him.

Journey with us this week.

Leave a comment too! I would love to hear how God is moving in your life as you intentionally tune in this Christmas.
